Join the inaugural ONA26 Braver Angels Debate! To help open this year's conference, ONA is partnering with Braver Angels to lead an engaging, interactive conversation on pressing issues in the news industry: what's the right amount of news?
Journalists face real pressure to get out ahead of developing stories and be the first to capture audiences' attention, and readers want to have ready access to all the important stories. At the same time, high publishing volume often risks leading readers to disengage. Is lots of content an unavoidable outgrowth of busy news cycles? Should we publish less? Join us on Monday to debate:
Resolved: Journalists should make it easier for people to consume less news.
Please note: This resolution does not reflect the position of ONA or Braver Angels but is designed to lead to interesting discussion based on sincere convictions. Thanks to those of you who filled out our poll to help us select the topic!
Braver Angels values courageous citizenship and seeks to inspire engagement through collaborative action. Facilitated by a trained Debate Chair, Braver Angels Debates are organized around a carefully developed "resolution" to allow both disagreement and decorum.
All who attend this debate will have the opportunity to share their views. Interested in speaking in the debate? Email sam@braverangels.org
