Nick Hagar is a Postdoctoral Scholar at Northwestern University’s Generative AI in the Newsroom Initiative and an incoming Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota’s Hubbard School of Journalism & Mass Communication. Their research focuses on the intersection of computational journalism and news ecosystems, with a specific interest in how generative AI can be operationalized in newsrooms. Their work has been cited in the New Yorker, Business Insider, and Nieman Lab, among others.
Previously, Nick worked in research roles at The New York Times and Meta. They hold a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, where their work explored collective attention and algorithmic news distribution.
