Encyclopædia Britannica
Casey Mendoza is a Social Media Producer & Video Editor for Encyclopædia Britannica. Before joining Britannica, she spent a decade in news as a print and radio reporter, entertainment journalist, on-air broadcast correspondent, field producer, and documentary filmmaker.
Most notably, Mendoza hosted and produced documentaries for the Emmy award–winning series “In Real Life”—her episodes highlighted the new generation of stunt workers in film and television, the controversy of generative AI in the video game industry, and the rise and fall of Twitter. These projects were the culmination of years covering the rapidly changing entertainment industry, from the growing dominance of streaming platforms to the democratized influence of online fandoms and discussions about diversity, equity, and inclusion in Hollywood.
Mendoza has interviewed countless high-profile artists and celebrities, including former U.S. Poet Laureate Rita Dove, Oscar and Tony-nominated actor Colman Domingo, Emmy award–winning producer Dick Wolf, and the casts and crews of projects like Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Handmaid's Tale, The Office, Superstore, The Boys, Glass Onion, and In The Heights.
Beyond covering the entertainment industry, Mendoza's work as a breaking news producer appeared across E.W. Scripps’ network of more than 60 local stations around the country, and her leadership on the ground as a field producer helped drive 2.1 million viewers to the network's live coverage of the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Based in Chicago, Mendoza helps mentor the next generation of multimedia storytellers, organizing local events for both the Video Consortium and the Asian American Journalists Association.
