Hybrid Media Stack
Jin Ding is a media strategist working at the intersection of journalism, audience engagement, and product innovation. With a background in editorial growth, community building, and product strategy, she has led initiatives that connect journalism more meaningfully with underserved audiences, particularly within diaspora communities.
Her work has consistently focused on how journalism can better serve diverse, multilingual communities in a fragmented media landscape, drawing on her experience reporting in China and for various international media organizations. She has held leadership and program roles including CEO at Initium Media, Chief of Staff and Operations at the Center for Public Integrity (CPI), Program Manager for News Partnerships at the Associated Press (AP), Program Manager at the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), and Inclusion and Communications Officer at the Pulitzer Center.
Beyond institutional media, Jin is rethinking how people engage with news and the sustainability of journalism. She is currently building the Media Hybrid Stack, an initiative designed to equip journalists with tools and frameworks to grow, engage, and convert audiences through their own platforms.
Jin previously served as Vice President of Finance at the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) and currently serves as an At-Large Representative on its Governing Board, as well as a board member of the Asia Chapter. She is a Simon and June Li Fellowship for Leadership in Journalism Fellow with AAJA, a Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program Fellow, and a Knight Foundation Fellow through the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism Executive Leadership Program.
